Accessibility Statement
My Work Buddy is designed for people who find unfamiliar language, layouts and interactions a barrier to using digital tools. Accessibility is a design requirement for this product, not an add-on, and this page sets out what we aim for, what we have checked so far, and what is still in progress.
What we aim for
We design My Work Buddy to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the internationally recognised standard for accessible digital services. This is our target conformance level across the product.
What this means in practice
- Plain English, short sentences and consistent wording throughout
- Predictable navigation and layouts that behave the same way on every screen
- Visual support (icons and images) alongside text, never replacing it
- Readable text sizes, generous spacing and strong colour contrast
- Full keyboard operability, with no functionality that requires a mouse or touch alone
- Screen-reader friendly markup, tested with common assistive technologies
- Mobile-first design, so support is available on the device people already carry
How we test
We check colour contrast and layout against WCAG 2.1 AA criteria as we build, and test core journeys with keyboard-only navigation and screen readers (including NVDA and VoiceOver). A full independent accessibility audit and an Accessibility Conformance Report (VPAT) are in progress and will be published here once complete.
What’s still in progress
- Independent third-party accessibility audit
- Formal Accessibility Conformance Report (VPAT)
- Extended assistive-technology testing with the people who use the product day to day
