My Work Buddy and Access to Work
Access to Work is a UK government grant scheme run by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). It can help pay for specialist equipment and assistive software, including tools like My Work Buddy, for people whose disability or health condition creates barriers at work.

Who Access to Work is for
- Aged 16 or over
- Living and working in England, Scotland or Wales
- Have a disability, health condition, or learning difficulty that affects your ability to do your job
- In paid work, about to start a job, or beginning a work trial, supported internship or work experience placement
Eligibility is decided by the DWP, not by us — see gov.uk/access-to-work/eligibility for the full criteria.
What Access to Work can fund
Grants can cover specialist equipment and assistive software, support workers, and travel to work where needed. My Work Buddy falls into the assistive software category — it supports workplace routine, task completion and communication for people who find these harder because of a disability, learning difficulty or health condition.
How to use My Work Buddy in your application
- Apply for Access to Work directly with the DWP, either online or by phone.
- When asked what support would help, name My Work Buddy and describe the barriers it addresses (see our Accessibility Statement and the barriers listed on our homepage).
- Get in touch with us for a quote or a proforma invoice to include with your application.
- Once approved, we’ll help you get set up.
Important
My Work Buddy does not process or submit Access to Work applications, and we cannot guarantee any individual application will be approved. Applications and eligibility decisions are made directly by the Department for Work and Pensions. This page is provided to help you and your employer or provider understand how My Work Buddy fits into that process.
